Extension Patio
From Barry Troll
Max
Introligator, my grandfather opened the first self-serve department store in
the state of N.J. Located on Anderson St in Chambersburg, the store prospered.
My father (Sam) was
born in the attached house in 1910, and grew up in the business
which closed in 1947.
In 1948, my
father opened Extension Toy as a self-serve toy store, an instant success.
Sam’s first
store situated in the back third of our present store location, 1509
Princeton Ave Trenton.
|
The following
season, he opened again and never left.
This is our 65th
year here in this location. During 1952 he purchased the building quickly took over
the whole building, which had rental businesses.
For the summer
months, Sam added swimming pools, playground equipment, beach chairs and beach
umbrellas, a prelude to patio furniture, umbrellas and all types of accessories
During 1962, E.J.
Korvettes, the first super-store in the area, gave Sam very stiff competition,
especially in the toy business.
In 1967, we
dropped all toys and have been selling furniture and related items ever since.
The store
specialized in patio, garden and casual furniture for residential and
commercial use, as well as being a distributor for Childlife play systems. We
carry all of the top brands offering items in stock for immediate delivery as
well as the option to special order your own choice of color, size or finish.
We also offer a variety of replacement parts, custom cushions and perform
umbrella repairs.
The Troll’s
maintain vigorous retail sales. The business also supplies many apartment
complexes and swim clubs, resulting a bulk purchases.
